Direct KTX-Eum Service on Jungang Line: Nonstop from Yeongcheon Station to Downtown Seoul!

Direct Service to Seoul Station Without Transfers Signals Transportation Innovation for Yeongcheon
Yeongcheon Station Stop Frequency Increased from 4 to 6 Round Trips

Yeongcheon City announced that starting from December 30, the number of KTX-Eum train stops at Yeongcheon Station will increase from the current four round trips to six.

According to Yeongcheon City, after the completion of the double-track railway construction on the Dodam-Yeongcheon section of the Jungang Line on December 20 last year, KTX-Eum train service was introduced in Yeongcheon for the first time. With the extension of the KTX-Eum train departing from Yeongcheon to Seoul Station, instead of terminating at Cheongnyangni Station, passengers will be able to travel from Yeongcheon Station to downtown Seoul without transfers starting at the end of this month.

Until now, traveling from Yeongcheon to Seoul required transfers at either Dongdaegu Station or Cheongnyangni Station, resulting in additional time and costs. However, with the new direct service to Seoul Station, these inconveniences are expected to be resolved.

As a result, not only will travel time be reduced, but the convenience of rail use is also expected to improve significantly.

A city official stated, "We expect that the extension of the KTX-Eum service to Seoul Station and the increased stops at Yeongcheon Station will greatly alleviate transportation inconveniences for our citizens," adding, "Improved accessibility to the Seoul metropolitan area will have a positive impact on the development of Yeongcheon City, including revitalizing the local economy and tourism."

The official further added, "Since transportation demand is crucial for further increasing KTX-Eum stops at Yeongcheon Station in the future, we urge citizens to actively use the service."
