Sinan County in South Jeolla Province welcomes tourists with baby camellia flowers blooming in vivid red even in the middle of winter.
The county announced that it will host the "Island Winter Flower Festival" at the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden in Amhae-eup from December 19, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Currently, 20,000 baby camellia trees are in full bloom along the 3-kilometer camellia forest trail, painting the garden in vibrant red. During the festival, approximately 40 million baby camellia blossoms are expected to reach their peak. Visitors can stroll along the colorful flower paths and enjoy the unique natural scenery, even in the heart of winter.
The festival venue will feature a variety of photo spots, including an observatory photo zone and an angel wings photo zone. There will also be interactive programs such as writing wish notes and sending personalized baby camellia postcards, which will be mailed during next year's Rosa rugosa blooming season.
In addition, the Sunset Art Museum within the Bonsai Garden will host an exhibition of camellia-themed works by professional artists. There will also be a camellia drawing experience for children and family visitors, adding a cultural and artistic dimension to the event.
A county official stated, "We hope visitors will create special winter memories by experiencing the spectacular sight of 40 million baby camellia blossoms that have bloomed despite the harsh winter cold."
Meanwhile, the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden, which offers views of the Dadohae Sea Garden spanning 50 million pyeong, is a comprehensive tourist destination equipped with an art museum, museum, bonsai garden, arboretum, and forest bathing area. Featuring luxury bonsai worth around 2 billion won on display, it has become a representative attraction of Sinan, drawing more than 200,000 visitors annually.
