Enhancing Local Talent Capabilities Through CSR
Knauf Gypsum Board Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Knauf), a global leader in lightweight building materials, conducted a practical corporate social responsibility (CSR) training session on October 30, 2025, at the Dangjin Professional Skills Training Center (PSTC) for 25 students enrolled in the Senior Specialized Program of the Department of Interior Architecture Design at Korea Polytechnics Seoul Gangseo Campus. This program focused on enhancing the on-site capabilities of middle-aged and older learners, particularly those in their 40s and above, to support their reemployment in the construction sector.
The training combined both theoretical and hands-on components, with wall (Standard PB) and ceiling (Gyptex) installation as the core topics. Participants learned step by step, from the basics of wall and ceiling construction to actual work procedures, through practical exercises using Knauf Gypsum Board products. All required gypsum boards, accessories, and construction tools were provided, and experienced Knauf Gypsum Board professionals led the training and coaching. To maximize safety and participation, the trainees were divided into two teams and practiced simultaneously.
On-site surveys indicated that participants found the training highly beneficial, and there was strong anticipation for further enhancement of future programs. Knauf Gypsum Board plans to continuously improve the program by extending the training period to two days, adding production line tours, providing focused instruction on proper tool usage, expanding opportunities to install various products, and including training on bond lining installation.
Through this initiative, Knauf reaffirmed the value of CSR in contributing to the local community and the industrial ecosystem. By providing practical support for career transitions and reemployment, the company strengthened its image as a responsible and sustainable business. Knauf also showcased its advanced products and systems on-site, demonstrating its technological innovation capabilities, and is expected to have a positive long-term impact on building a pool of skilled, company-friendly talent.
A Knauf representative stated, "Through our collaboration with Korea Polytechnics, we focused on bridging classroom knowledge with on-site skills," adding, "By providing materials and expert guidance, we aim to promote safe and sustainable construction methods and genuinely expand reemployment opportunities for the middle-aged and older workforce."
The company plans to enhance the effectiveness of the program by considering improvements such as extending the training period, linking production line tours, strengthening tool proficiency, and expanding case studies involving additional products.
