The awards ceremony was organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Korea Council of Volunteer Centers, and the Korea Volunteer Center Association. First launched in 2006, this year marks its 20th edition. The event recognizes and honors volunteers who have made significant contributions to promoting volunteerism.

LG Electronics was highly praised for its extensive activities supporting local communities and marginalized groups, as well as for its positive impact on society, centered around the 'Life's Good Volunteer Group,' which is comprised of employees who participate voluntarily. The Life's Good Volunteer Group was established in 2010 and has been collaborating with the nonprofit organization Korea Volunteer Culture since 2021. Over the past five years, more than 5,000 LG Electronics employees have participated, extending help to over 23,000 people.

This year, approximately 600 employees formed 77 teams within the Life's Good Volunteer Group, engaging in a wide range of activities, from environmental clean-up and educational support for future generations to caring for neighbors in need and sharing specialized skills through talent donation. Recently, their volunteer work has included developing an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that introduces independence activists and Korean War veterans, visiting social welfare facilities to inspect and repair air conditioners and other equipment, and using AI technology to present seniors with photographs of themselves from their youth. The AI profile photography volunteer team, 'Lia-in,' carries out this initiative. Since 2023, they have visited 18 senior and military welfare centers nationwide, gifting youth-era photographs to about 240 seniors. This activity was selected as the top project at the 1st Korea Volunteerism and Sharing Best Practices Contest and will receive the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the ceremony on December 10.

In addition to the activities of the Life's Good Volunteer Group, LG Electronics is expanding its social contribution initiatives as part of its responsibility as a corporate citizen. One such program is the 'Visiting Career Human Library,' where employees visit middle and high schools to share their work experiences and help students with career planning. From the launch of this program in 2021 through last year, about 200 employees have mentored over 2,200 students in Seoul, Pyeongtaek in Gyeonggi Province, Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province, and other locations, sharing valuable experiences.

Yoon Dae-sik, Executive Vice President of External Relations at LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to support the warm-hearted employees who voluntarily participate in social contribution activities."
