This program was designed to raise students' awareness of the importance of the environment by providing education on air quality and opportunities to experience the air quality measurement process firsthand.

This year, the hands-on classroom started at Onyang Elementary School in Ulju County in April and continued until November, holding a total of 25 sessions for 4th to 6th grade students at six elementary schools, with more than 560 participants. Before launching the program, the institute identified schools in need with the cooperation of the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education and selected the participating schools within the city.

The main components of the program included: ▲ basic education on the role of the Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment and air quality, and ▲ hands-on experience with the real-time measurement of air pollutants using a mobile air quality monitoring vehicle.

Students who participated in the hands-on classroom said, "It was meaningful to learn about air quality issues such as fine dust and ozone," and "It became an opportunity for me to take an interest in the environment."

Shim Minryeong, Director of the Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment, stated, "We will continue to operate the Mobile Air Quality Classroom so that young students can have the opportunity to experience the air quality measurement process firsthand and develop interest and enthusiasm for air quality science."

The "Mobile Air Quality Classroom" has been held annually since 2008, but was temporarily suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19 and resumed in 2023.
