The National Quality Management Convention, hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards and organized by the Korean Standards Association, is a nationwide quality management event that recognizes outstanding achievements and contributors in innovation across industries. This year, 316 subcommittees that passed regional preliminaries in 17 cities and provinces across the country participated in the finals.

The corporation competed in six categories-on-site improvement, safety quality, big data & AI, ESG, new product development, and research achievements-winning three silver and three bronze awards. Future-oriented innovation activities, such as the advancement of maintenance systems using big data and AI, and improvements in on-site safety and quality, received high praise.

The silver awards went to the following teams: Jeongchamsi (improvement of train maintenance using big data, Banghwa Rolling Stock Depot), Dojeon Number One! (improvement of catenary work ladders, Electrical Business Division 1), and Swiss Cheese (development of a contact resistance measuring device for rapid response to signal failures, Signal Business Division 1).

The bronze awards were received by the following teams: Technic Manager (prevention of safety accidents through improvements to platform screen doors, Technical Planning Department), Jangam Futures (improvement of PCB repair processes, Dobong Rolling Stock Depot), and Respond! 1989 (research on systems to prevent power cable insulation breakdown, Electrical Business Division 1).

Seoul Metro Corporation plans to use this achievement as an opportunity to spread outstanding improvement cases throughout the company and actively support field-oriented autonomous quality innovation activities.

Han Younghee, Acting President of Seoul Metro Corporation, stated, “Since 2011, we have consistently participated in the convention, and now we are advancing beyond accumulated experience to a new phase of future-oriented quality innovation based on big data and AI. We will strengthen field-driven improvement activities to dramatically enhance service quality and safety levels, creating changes that citizens can truly feel.”
