Yongsan Mayor Park Heeyoung Strengthens Resident-Centered Administration, Meets 565 Neighborhood Leaders in Two Months Heeyoung Park, mayor of Yongsan District, is having a conversation with the class leader at the '2025 Dong Field Communication' held last September. Provided by Yongsan District.

This field communication event was conducted as Mayor Heeyoung Park visited all 16 neighborhoods. It targeted class leaders with less than one year of experience as well as those who have served for over 50 years, sharing on-site discussions about their roles and ways to participate in district governance.

The main suggestions were directly related to residents' daily lives, such as road traffic, parks and green spaces, and living environment. Issues raised included the installation of road heating systems, repaving of old roads, maintenance of safety rails on steep slopes, improvement and management of park facilities and loess trails, installation of electric vehicle charging stations, and waste disposal problems. The district stated that each department is promptly reviewing these matters and directly informing the proposers of the outcomes and progress.

To enhance the expertise and pride of class leaders, Yongsan District conducted 'Class Leader Capacity-Building Training' in June. The training consisted of six sessions, including job training, CPR practice, and tours of major facilities such as the integrated CCTV control center, Hannam Rainwater Pumping Station, and Yongsan History Museum. In August, the district also revised the 'Yongsan District Neighborhood and Class Leader Installation Ordinance' to support health checkup expenses for neighborhood and class leaders starting next year.

One class leader who attended the meeting said, "I felt that the district office is making great efforts for class leaders, and my pride as a class leader has grown through communication with the mayor."

Meanwhile, during the 8th popularly elected term, Yongsan District has met with a total of 10,816 residents through various channels such as neighborhood work briefings, field communication events, and neighborhood leader meetings, receiving 1,536 suggestions. Major achievements include assigning individual building numbers to 44 stores in Huam Market, installing a canopy on the pedestrian overpass at the Huamdong Observatory, improving the environment of the underpass in Wonhyo 1-dong, installing odor reduction devices for sewage near Ichon Station, enacting an ordinance to support traditional folk events for Jeongwol Daeboreum in each neighborhood, and creating parking lots on unused land.

The district is promptly addressing suggestions closely related to residents' lives and continues to monitor ongoing matters.

Mayor Park stated, "Class leaders are like the capillaries of administration, communicating most closely with residents. We will actively reflect the valuable feedback received through field communication in district governance and continue to operate various programs to listen to the voices of our residents."
