According to the county on November 19, this training was a legally mandated session based on the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities Act and the Act on Employment Promotion and Vocational Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities. It was organized to enhance employees' understanding of people with disabilities and to foster an organizational culture where people with and without disabilities can work together harmoniously.
The lecture was delivered by Hwang Hyuncheol, a specialist instructor from the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, who covered a wide range of topics including understanding disabilities and people with disabilities, the prohibition of discrimination against people with disabilities, and human rights for people with disabilities.
The main content of the training included legal systems and institutions related to the human rights of people with disabilities, changes in the concept of disability, and practical understanding through case-based education, all grounded in the value of respecting diversity in disabilities.
In particular, the instructor led a case-based lecture that encouraged employees to reflect on everyday stereotypes, presented examples of discrimination that could occur in actual work situations, and suggested appropriate ways to respond, thereby engaging and eliciting empathy from the staff.
The county expects that this training will serve as an opportunity to strengthen disability-friendly accessibility across all administrative services.
Choi Hunsik, Governor of Jangsu County, stated, "I hope this training helps employees recognize disability as a part of social diversity," and added, "I ask everyone to take the lead in making Jangsu County a place where people with and without disabilities can be happy together."
