The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 16th that it will conduct an additional public recruitment for the "Promotion of Electronic Voting and Online General Meetings in Redevelopment Projects" initiative.
Through this recruitment, an additional 130 million won will be provided, supplementing the 100 million won support that was decided for the first and second halves of this year but not yet executed. This is expected to benefit associations that were unable to apply previously or require additional support.
In the first and second halves of this year, a total of 100 million won (up to 10 million won per district) was allocated to 18 associations. So far, 14 out of the 18 associations have held general meetings using electronic voting and online general meetings.
Previously, with the enforcement of the Urban Renewal Act in June, electronic voting became legally permitted, and starting from the 4th of next month, online general meetings will also be allowed. From the enforcement date, service providers that meet all the requirements set forth by the Urban Renewal Act will be able to offer their services to associations.
However, if an association wishes to hold an online general meeting before the 4th of next month, it must utilize the ICT Regulatory Sandbox system.
The eligible participants for this recruitment are redevelopment and reconstruction associations in Seoul that are planning to hold a general meeting. Associations planning to hold a general meeting next year are also eligible to participate. Associations selected in the first and second half recruitments may only apply for additional support within the support limit (up to 10 million won per district).
Associations wishing to participate in the project must obtain approval from the board of delegates (or the general meeting), and then submit the application form and required documents to the relevant district's urban renewal department by the 12th of next month.
The city will convene the Subsidy Review Committee as needed until the end of the year to review the project implementation conditions for each district and the operational status of associations, and will determine the support recipients and amounts. Afterwards, associations that have held their general meetings may apply for reimbursement of expenses within the granted support amount through their respective districts.
Choi Jinseok, Director of Housing Policy at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, stated, "We will actively support participating associations so that they can conduct general meeting decision-making processes swiftly and transparently. We will continue to provide public support to expand the benefits of electronic voting-such as reducing general meeting costs, increasing participation rates, and shortening voting periods-to more associations in the future."
