According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 13th, Minister Cho met with Secretary Rubio on the previous day (local time) on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting during the sessions on maritime security and energy security. Although it was not a formal bilateral meeting, the two ministers were seen having a standing conversation.

Regarding this, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "Minister Cho requested Secretary Rubio's special efforts to ensure that all matters agreed upon by both sides at the two summits can be further specified through the prompt release of the joint explanatory document." The ministry added that Secretary Rubio also expressed his intention to "actively coordinate with relevant U.S. government departments to help ensure that the joint explanatory document can be released as soon as possible."

The announcement of the fact sheet summarizing the results of the Korea-U.S. summit, held on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju on October 29, has been delayed for more than two weeks. It is known that there are differences of opinion within U.S. government agencies, but the details have not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, Minister Cho attended this G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting as a representative of an invited country and held bilateral meetings with Canada, Mexico, the EU, and Germany. In a meeting with Anita Anand, Foreign Minister of Canada and chair of the G7, he stated, "I hope that Korea, as a future partner of Canada, will actively contribute to achieving Canada's security and defense enhancement goals, including the next submarine project."
