A former head of a redevelopment association, who carried out a knife rampage at the association's office in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, resulting in one death and two injuries, has been handed over to the prosecution while in custody.
On November 13, the Seoul Gangdong Police Station announced that they had referred a man in his 60s, surnamed Cho, to the prosecution under arrest on charges of retaliatory murder under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, among others.
According to the police, on November 4 at around 10:20 a.m., Cho allegedly launched a knife attack at the Cheonho-dong redevelopment association office, injuring a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s, and killing a woman in her 50s.
Meanwhile, Cho had been summarily indicted last month on charges of forcibly molesting one of the victims. The prosecution has requested a formal trial by consolidating the molestation case with the knife rampage case.
