This event is a competition that discovers exemplary cases among local governments and private organizations that have contributed to regional energy transition and have taken the lead in expanding renewable energy and promoting solar power. The city has won awards at this event for two consecutive years, following the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award last year.
The city explained that it was recognized for its efforts to establish an energy transition ecosystem, including: ▲ forming a dedicated organization for climate response and RE100; ▲ laying the policy foundation through business agreements with relevant agencies; ▲ implementing renewable energy supply projects; ▲ building citizen-participatory solar power plants; ▲ installing solar power generation facilities in public buildings; and ▲ distributing other energy sources.
Lim Byeongtaek, Mayor of Siheung, stated, "This award is a recognition of Siheung City's policy execution capabilities as we move toward becoming a sustainable energy transition city," adding, "We will continue to strengthen carbon-neutral policies together with citizens and provide ongoing support so that the expansion of renewable energy can be felt in daily life."
