Alleviating Labor Shortages at SMEs in the Root Industry Expected
IBK Industrial Bank of Korea announced on October 31 that it has signed a work agreement with Gyeonggi College of Science and Technology for a "Job Matching Program for International Students and Root Industry Companies."
The root industry refers to core sectors that form the foundation of manufacturing, such as casting, molding, and welding. The bank entered into this agreement with Gyeonggi College of Science and Technology, which is designated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy as a university for training foreign technical personnel in the root industry, in order to help alleviate labor shortages at small and medium-sized enterprises and to expand employment opportunities for international students.
Under this agreement, the two institutions will cooperate in discovering outstanding companies and recommending talent, supporting excellent educational environments, providing employment consulting for international students, and supporting job opportunities at small and medium-sized enterprises. In particular, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea will establish a dedicated recruitment section for international students on its SME-focused job portal, "i-ONE JOB," and provide employment consulting and related support.
A representative from IBK Industrial Bank of Korea stated, "The root industry forms the foundation of manufacturing competitiveness, but due to a reluctance to work in this field, there is a need for foreign technical personnel. We will continue to do our utmost to resolve labor shortages in root industry companies through collaboration with various institutions."
