Increase in Temple Visitors During Foliage Season
Guidelines Provided via Tmap and Social Media
The National Heritage Administration is launching a temple visit etiquette campaign in response to the increase in temple visitors during the autumn foliage season. Starting October 30, basic etiquette guidelines for temple visits will be provided through the National Heritage newsletter, social media channels, and the Tmap navigation app.
Last year, the National Heritage Administration reduced admission fees at sixty-five temples nationwide. As a result, the number of visitors increased significantly, leading to challenges in managing cultural heritage preservation, such as disruptions to visitor order, littering, and unauthorized photography.
The National Heritage Administration is producing posters, card news, and Instagram webtoons to be posted on social media and in newsletters. For vehicles using Tmap near temples, etiquette guidance messages will be automatically sent to users.
An official from the National Heritage Administration stated, "We will expand activities that encourage the public to voluntarily participate in the preservation of cultural heritage."
