Over 800 International Students Participate
Showcasing Korean Language Skills
The Korean Language Institute at Catholic University announced on November 4 that it recently held the "9th Foreigners' Korean Language Festival" in the Kim Suhwan Hall conference room on campus.

This event served as a platform for international students to share their unique stories in Korean and to communicate their experiences and cultures gained in Korea.
Fourteen teams advanced to the finals, showcasing a variety of performances including singing, presentations, dancing, and plays. Over 800 regular course students of the Korean Language Institute from countries such as Vietnam, Mongolia, China, Japan, Myanmar, Chile, Italy, and Uzbekistan participated in the event.
The first prize was awarded to Johnny Reyte Pino Johnny Nicolas, a language student from Chile, who presented "A Chilean's Experience in Korea."
The second prize was jointly awarded to Maralgo Togtbayar Maralgoo, a language student from Mongolia who presented "My Korean Language Study Diary," and Zhu Guanwen, a graduate student majoring in vocal music in the Department of Arts and Media Convergence from China, who sang "Rebecca" from the musical "Rebecca," along with one other participant.
The third prize was shared by Hoang Thi Dieu, a language student from Vietnam and Myanmar, who presented "When Life Gives You Tangerines," Hlaing Bwar Aung, a language student from Myanmar, who presented "The First Step Toward My Dream, Korean," and Li Peiwen, a graduate student majoring in performing arts in the Department of Performing Arts and Culture from China, who sang "This Is the Moment" from the musical "Jekyll & Hyde."
Choi Jungyu, President of Catholic University, stated, "Language is a bridge for understanding and respecting each other's cultures," adding, "This festival has become an opportunity for students from around the world to come together as one community, transcending nationalities and language barriers."
Johnny Reyte Pino Johnny Nicolas, the language student who won first place, shared, "Through this speech contest, it was a meaningful experience to introduce the culture of my hometown, Chile, and South America. I would like to thank the teachers at the Korean Language Institute who helped me prepare and the friends who supported me."
