The Dokdo Literary and Arts Competition is a nationwide event held annually to promote the historical significance and cultural value of Dokdo. Thousands of works are submitted in various fields, including literature, art, calligraphy, and photography.

This year, a total of 1,843 entries were submitted, resulting in fierce competition. The achievement of a Suryun Middle School student in this context is considered especially meaningful.

Suryun Middle School organizes Dokdo Week every year and conducts a variety of educational programs on Dokdo for all students.

The school explained that submitting an art work to the competition was also part of these educational activities. As a result, students were able to express what they had learned about Dokdo through their art, which led to the valuable accomplishment of winning a prize at the national level.

This achievement is even more significant given that it was accomplished at a small school with only 34 students.

Principal Song Kyungmi stated, "I am proud that our students have been recognized at a national competition for expressing the historical pride they gained through Dokdo education in their works," adding, "We will continue to actively support our students so that they can nurture their love for the region and the country."
