This challenge operates in the format of a "sentence exchange event," where participants submit a sentence from a book that resonated with them and, in return, receive another participant's sentence at random. By sharing memorable sentences and connecting with others, this participatory reading campaign was created through the combination of Seoul's "Seoul Without Loneliness" project and Kyobo Bookstore's campaign to promote reading culture.

The theme of this fifth round, "Journeying Together in Mind," was designed to create a space for connection and communication. Participants exchange impressive sentences they have found, allowing them to experience a sense of "connection" by glimpsing into and understanding each other's hearts.

To participate, individuals can visit the Kyobo Bookstore event page and submit a memorable sentence from a book they have read. Once a sentence is registered, participants will receive another participant's sentence at random once per day, creating an exchange of thoughts and emotions through sentences.

The challenge will run for three weeks until November 16. The recommended books for this round are four titles: "The Shape of Loneliness" (Lee Hyunjung, Ganeungseongdeul), "What You See Only When Life Wavers" (Jang Daeun, Dareunsangsang), "Masterpiece" (Gu Byeongmo, Munhakdongne), and "The One Question That Moves the Heart" (Lee Sugyeong, Genie’s Library). Participants may also choose any book of their preference, and those who collect seven participation stamps within the period will complete the challenge.

Kyobo Bookstore will offer generous rewards to participants selected by lottery. Two hundred participants who join at least once will receive a 5,000-won Kyobo Bookstore e-gift voucher, and one hundred participants who complete seven or more sessions will receive a 10,000-won Kyobo Bookstore gift card. Winners will be announced on the Kyobo Bookstore event page on November 24.

A Kyobo Bookstore representative stated, "This 'Mind Journey Reading Challenge' offers a special experience of connection, as one sentence leads to another. We hope that by reading each other's sentences, participants will come to understand one another's hearts, and that warm solidarity will spread through books."

Since February this year, Kyobo Bookstore has been conducting a total of six reading challenges with the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Up to the fourth round, over 11,000 participants have joined, and more than 23,000 sentences have been exchanged. Notably, in the third round, an event was held to donate books in proportion to the number of accumulated sympathies, resulting in 300 books being delivered to 20 organizations, making it a model case for social contribution through the promotion of reading culture.

Meanwhile, in December, the final challenge will take place under the sixth theme, "Year-End Reflection," to mark the close of the year.
