At the Senior Secretary and Aide Meeting held at the Presidential Office in Yongsan on this day, President Lee stated, "With large-scale budget investments, bold institutional innovations, and close global partnerships, we must shape the future of the global defense industry with our own hands."
He noted that defense industry exports are projected to reach 20 billion dollars by 2030, but urged that the nation should not be complacent and must continue to move forward.
President Lee said, "As of the first half of this year, the order backlog of major domestic defense companies has surpassed 100 trillion won, and defense industry exports are projected to reach 20 billion dollars by 2030. We must not be satisfied with this and should take another step forward. The defense industry, which now integrates advanced technology, science, and manufacturing innovation, is emerging as a key driving force that will determine the outcome of future economic battlegrounds."
He further called on the entire government to mobilize its capabilities so that the door to becoming one of the world's top four defense industry powers can be fully opened.
