Focus on Strengthening Field Response and Command System... Goryeong County Conducts Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill

More than 130 people participated in the drill, including officials from Goryeong County Office, Goryeong Fire Station, Goryeong Police Station, and the Volunteer Fire Brigade.

This drill was designed to comprehensively assess the disaster response capabilities of local governments and related agencies, and was conducted under the scenario of a large-scale fire. In particular, the cause of the fire was set as the illegal burning of agricultural waste, with a focus on raising awareness of the dangers of such illegal burning, which frequently occurs in rural areas.

On this day, Goryeong County carried out both a discussion-based drill through the operation of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and a field response drill through the operation of the Integrated Support Headquarters. Through these efforts, the county aimed to move beyond traditional fire and disaster department-centered drills, placing greater emphasis on strengthening collaboration across the entire field response and command system.

Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "I hope this Safety Korea Drill serves as an opportunity to develop the ability to respond swiftly and systematically in the event of an actual disaster." He added, "I ask that every participant takes responsibility as 'the starting point of safety' and does their utmost to protect the lives and safety of our residents."
