Kim Jaeseop, a member of the People Power Party, criticized writer Yoo Si-min, who mentioned the withdrawal of US Forces Korea, saying, "He seems to be personally demonstrating his own claim that your brain rots after you turn 60."

On October 22, during a YouTube broadcast on TV Chosun, Assemblyman Kim said, "Yoo Si-min is not even that influential, but if his words were to be accepted and US Forces Korea were to withdraw, the President would immediately face a crisis." He continued, "If US Forces Korea leaves, all foreign and institutional investors would pull out, and the KOSPI would crash completely on that very day."

He further stated, "The geopolitical importance of the Korean Peninsula is significant for security, but it is based on that security that foreign investment flows into the South Korean economy. Yoo's remarks about the withdrawal of US Forces Korea are utterly baseless and nonsensical." He added, "Yoo Si-min himself once said that your brain rots after you turn 60, and he seems to be proving it himself."

Previously, on October 19, writer Yoo Si-min commented on his YouTube channel regarding the Korea-US tariff negotiations, saying, "If Yoon Suk-yeol were in office now, how much money would he have handed over to the US? It seems like the US is threatening, 'If you don't sign, we'll pull out the troops.'" He added, "When the President says, 'It's an outdated idea to think we can't defend ourselves without foreign troops,' and 'We can do it on our own,' that seems to be a response to the US."

Yoo Si-min also said, "Kim Jong-un is completely intimidated, so even if US troops leave, it doesn't really matter to us. Last time, when Yoon Suk-yeol sent drones and caused a stir, North Korea cut off the lines because they were scared we might actually invade. North Korea knows that if war breaks out, they will die."

Regarding comments such as 'Trump's tyranny is too much' and 'He acts like a gangster,' Yoo said, "He is a gangster. Because Korea didn't sign the $350 billion investment package with the US, they ruined Hyundai's factory," referring to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on the Hyundai Motor Group-LG Energy Solution joint battery plant last September.

Yoo added, "ICE didn't just conduct the raid for no reason. They were sending a message: 'This is what happens if you cross us.' For us, it's a loss for LG and Hyundai Motor, but that's all. It's unfortunate, but it's just a loss." He also commented on former Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's decision to invest $550 billion in the US, saying, "It's hilarious."

Yoo Si-min, during his time as a member of the Uri Party in 2004, sparked controversy over ageism when he stated in a university lecture, "Even if you were a person of great character in your 30s or 40s, after 20 years, your brain cells change and you become a completely different person." He added, "My personal principle is not to take on any responsible position once I turn 60, and never to do so after 65."
