The 19th National Disability Singing Contest (Chairman: Son Inho), which aims to promote unity among people with disabilities and provide a stage for overcoming challenges, will be held at the Grand Hall of Cheonma Art Center at Yeungnam University in Gyeongsan City for two hours starting at 1 p.m. on October 25, 2025.
Hosted by former Daegu TBN Programming and Production Director Do Ki-chang and Im Yubin, this singing contest will feature 10 finalists with disabilities, carefully selected from over 100 applicants nationwide through a preliminary round held on September 13. These finalists will showcase the singing skills they have honed over time.
The contestants will not only demonstrate their vocal talents but also share moving stories about overcoming their disabilities, what motivated them to start singing, and their journeys of perseverance and hope.
Additionally, the event will offer a variety of performances for the audience, including congratulatory performances by invited singers such as Kang Taepoong, a trot singer from Daegu, as well as Byun Kyumseo, Kim Dohun, An Yeoni, Kim Suman, and Hong Seongtaek. There will also be a dance performance by members of the Korea JL Practical Dancers Association, a harmonica ensemble by DCU Clear Harmonica Ensemble, and a high-level performance by soprano Kim Heejeong.
The grand prize winner of this singing contest will receive a cash prize of 3 million won, a certificate, and additional prizes. The first prize winner will receive 1 million won, a certificate, and additional prizes. The excellence award winner will receive 500,000 won, a certificate, and additional prizes. The encouragement award winner will receive 300,000 won, a certificate, and additional prizes. The popularity award winner will receive 200,000 won, a certificate, and additional prizes.
Admission to the Disability Singing Contest is free for everyone, and various prizes such as a large TV, large refrigerator, washing machine, and microwave oven will be given away to the audience through a raffle.
This year's contest is supported by Lee Inseon and Kwon Youngjin, members of the People Power Party, and Woo Donggi, former Chairman of the Regional Era Committee, who serve as honorary chairpersons. Yoon Donghan, Chairman of Kolmar Korea, serves as executive advisor for the event.
