Handcrafted Beer, Traditional Market Foods, and Busking Performances
Songpa District in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) will host the "2025 Seokchon Market Handcrafted Beer Festa" on October 24 and 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Seokchon Market area. Organized and hosted by the Seokchon Market Merchants Association, this event is Songpa's signature nighttime street festival, bringing together traditional markets and the younger generation.
Seokchon Market emerged as a center of new change after a large-scale renovation project in 2019 attracted younger visitors. In response, the district and the merchants association launched the Handcrafted Beer Festa in 2023 to revitalize the market. Last year, about 4,000 people attended, establishing it as a festival enjoyed by multiple generations and families.
This year, eight handcrafted beer brands from across the country will participate, presenting a diverse range of regional beers. At the food truck zone and booths operated directly by market merchants, visitors can enjoy signature traditional market dishes such as sweet and spicy fried chicken, Korean blood sausage, boiled pork slices, and fermented skate sashimi.
The main street of Seokchon Market will feature busking performances by acoustic bands and singer-songwriters, as well as shows by local clubs. There will also be interactive booths for the whole family, including balloon art, face painting, and caricatures.
Meanwhile, Songpa District will also host a series of night market festivals at Pungnap Market on October 25, and at Machun Market on October 30 and 31, in an effort to revitalize local commercial districts. Each event will offer a beer zone, food zone, singing contests, and a variety of other activities.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "The Seokchon Market Handcrafted Beer Festa is a unique festival where the spirit of traditional markets meets the sophisticated urban sensibility. We will continue to develop distinctive night market content to help traditional markets become the center of the local economy."
