Attended by Chairpersons of 18 City and County Councils in Gyeongnam Province
and Over 70 Related Public Officials
The Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam hosted the 261st Regular Meeting of the Gyeongnam City and County Council Chairpersons Association in Jinju, where the autumn festival is in full swing.
The regular meeting, held on October 15, was attended by the chairpersons of 18 city and county councils in Gyeongnam Province and about 70 related public officials. The event was organized to promote exchange and cooperation among local councils and to explore directions for joint development.

During the meeting, participants discussed local issues, shared outstanding cases of local legislation, and addressed policy matters closely related to residents' lives, such as improving the Barrier-Free (BF) certification system. Regarding the strengthening of local autonomy, key topics included the need for institutional innovation, such as establishing a cooperation network among city and county councils, enhancing the efficiency of policy support, and enacting the Local Council Act.
The chairpersons received chrysanthemum pots as gifts from Jinju City ahead of the 2025 Jinju Chrysanthemum Art Exhibition, which opens on October 29. As part of the accompanying events, they toured the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival venue by boarding the sightseeing boat Kim Simin-ho at the Mulbit Naru Rest Area, which is emerging as a leading local tourist attraction.
Baek Seunghung, Chairperson of the Jinju City Council, stated, "Local councils are at the forefront of democracy, listening most closely to the voices of local residents," and added, "We will strengthen our role as partners contributing to the development of local autonomy and balanced national growth by expanding communication among basic councils."
