Gumi City, North Gyeongsang Province, will host the 17th Mr. Kumo Contest on October 19 at the main stage of Songjeong Matgil (Gwangpyeongcheon 5 Parking Lot).
This year's event will be held under the theme "Delicious Health, Passionate Wellness" and will be organized as a special festival that combines sports and gastronomy in conjunction with the 2025 Gumi Food Festival.
Approximately 100 bodybuilding athletes will compete in this year's contest, which features 17 divisions including Men's Bodybuilding, Classic Bodybuilding, Physique, Women's Bikini, Women's Leggings, and Youth categories. The event will offer citizens a stage filled with vibrant displays of physical fitness. In addition to the competitions, bodybuilding performance shows will further heighten the excitement.
Trophies and certificates will be awarded to athletes who place first through third in each division, while medals and certificates will be given to those who place fourth through sixth. The highest honor of the contest, the Grand Prix (Men's Bodybuilding and the combined Bikini & Leggings divisions), will be awarded with a trophy to the top athlete selected from among the first-place winners in each category.
This year, the contest will be held outdoors on the main stage of the Food Festival, marking a departure from the traditional indoor format.
It is expected to provide a unique experience where citizens and tourists can come together to cheer and enjoy, blending taste, health, and passion in an open and inclusive celebration.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, stated, "The Mr. Kumo Contest is a stage where the athletes' sweat and passion shine, and thanks to its synergy with the Food Festival, it has become a healthy event that all citizens can enjoy together. Going forward, we will continue to deliver vitality and joy to citizens through a variety of programs that combine sports and culture."
