This demonstration was conducted as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2025 Drone Demonstration City Project. With relevant organizations and local residents in attendance, the event showcased the drone delivery operation process and assessed its potential for administrative use. However, due to rain and other weather conditions, the demonstration was replaced with a video presentation.
During the event, four organizations-Wonju City, the Korea Forest Aviation Headquarters, the 36th Infantry Division, and the Wonju Future Industry Promotion Foundation-signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand the use of advanced drones in public administration.
The participating organizations agreed on the importance of innovating public administration and ensuring citizen safety through the use of drones. They committed to mutual cooperation in the following areas: discovering and expanding administrative services utilizing drone technology; collaborating on demonstration and research and development in public sectors such as disaster response, security, forestry, and public safety; and analyzing challenges and improving systems and technologies related to the implementation of drone-based administrative services.
Won Kangsoo, mayor of Wonju, stated, "Drones are an innovative technology that can expand both the speed and scope of administrative work. Based on this project, we will continue to identify and implement advanced drone-based public administration services that citizens can experience, and we will steadily broaden the areas of application."
Meanwhile, Wonju City was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 2025 Drone Demonstration City Project and, together with the Wonju Future Industry Promotion Foundation and local drone company KATS, is carrying out the K-Drone Delivery Demonstration Project in the Hwangdun-ri campsite area.
