President Lee Jaemyung instructed on October 9 that the nation's full diplomatic capabilities should be mobilized to ensure the early return of our citizen aboard the vessel seized by Israel.
Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, stated in a written briefing on this day, "President Lee received a report yesterday evening (October 8) regarding the current situation and response plans concerning our citizen who was aboard the vessel seized by Israel. He directed that all possible diplomatic resources be utilized to secure the safety of our citizen, ensure their swift release, and facilitate their early return home."
According to the government, at approximately 11:40 a.m. Korean time on October 8, a fleet of 11 relief ships heading toward the Gaza Strip was seized by the Israeli military. Among those on board was Kim Ahyeon, a 27-year-old Korean national.
