Series of Vehicle Crashes in Gwangju... Damage to Shops and Homes

A series of accidents occurred in Gwangju, where vehicles crashed into commercial buildings and residential homes.

According to the Gwangju Fire Department and other sources on October 3, at around 10:48 a.m. the previous day, an SUV driven by a woman in her 40s, identified as Ms. A, crashed into a clothing store in Songjeong-dong, Gwangsan District. As a result of the accident, the store owner in his 60s, who was inside the shop, complained of pain in his shoulder and head and was transported to the hospital. It is reported that Ms. A caused the accident while trying to avoid a city bus that was stopped on the road.

On the same day, at around 1:47 p.m., a sedan driven by a woman in her 70s crashed into the wall of a house on a road in Wolsan-dong, Nam District. There were no injuries, but part of the front gate and the exterior wall of the house collapsed.

The police believe that both accidents were caused by driver error and are investigating the exact circumstances.
