"Breathing New Life into the Local Economy"... Yeongju City Holds Chuseok Traditional Market Shopping Event

Over 700 Officials and Organization Members Participate
Price Stabilization Campaign Held Concurrently

Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province held a "Chuseok Traditional Market Shopping Event" at local traditional markets on October 2, aiming to revitalize the local economy ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

Approximately 700 people participated in the event, including Yeongju City officials, affiliated organizations, social groups, and companies. Shopping took place at a total of eight traditional markets: six in the original downtown area, such as the Public Market, Culture Market, and Central Market, as well as two near Yeongju Station, including the Sinyeongju Lightning Market and the General Market.

Participants directly purchased ritual and seasonal items, bringing renewed energy to the traditional markets.

On the morning of the event, Yoo Junggeun, acting mayor of Yeongju City, visited markets in the original downtown area such as the Public Market, and in the afternoon, he visited the Sinyeongju Lightning Market. He communicated with merchants and joined in the shopping activities.

Alongside the event, the city also conducted a price stabilization campaign. Yeongju City designated the period from September 22 to October 10 as the "Chuseok Holiday Price Stabilization Special Measures Period" and is operating a price stabilization task force. The city is focusing on inspecting prices of key management items, checking the implementation of price labeling and country-of-origin labeling, and cracking down on unfair trading practices.

Acting Mayor Yoo stated, "This shopping event was not just about consumption-it revitalized the traditional markets and became a gathering place for merchants and citizens to come together as a community. I hope citizens will also visit their local traditional markets and contribute to boosting the local economy."
