Wonju City in Gangwon Province held a safety prayer ceremony and memorial service on the 2nd in connection with the construction of a new columbarium at Wonju Memorial Park, which is being promoted to expand public burial facilities as the current columbarium is expected to reach full capacity by the end of next year.

This event was organized both to pray for the accident-free and safe progress of the new columbarium construction and to honor the spirits of those already enshrined, while offering comfort to their bereaved families.
With the construction of the new columbarium, Wonju City will secure an additional 10,000 enshrinement spaces, thereby establishing a stable supply of burial facilities. The city expects that citizens will be able to use these facilities with peace of mind until 2033.
Won Kangsu, Mayor of Wonju City, stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure the safe progress of the new columbarium construction, while also continuing to show respect for those who have already been enshrined."
