Jasaeng Korean Medicine Hospital Denies 'Transition Committee Favoritism and Slush Fund' Allegations as "Clearly Fabricated" Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine

On September 30, Jasaeng Korean Medicine Hospital released an official statement, categorically denying all allegations and announcing that it would take strict legal action against the related media reports. Previously, some had claimed that Jasaeng Korean Medicine Hospital had unofficially provided office space to President Yoon Suk-yeol's transition committee in the past and, in return, received policy favors such as the expansion of health insurance coverage for Chuna therapy.

The hospital has stated that these claims are completely groundless. The hospital explained, "At the time, we entered into an official and legitimate lease agreement with the transition committee, and we are still in possession of the contract."

According to the statement, the transition committee rented part of the hospital building’s basement for a total of 11 million won (including VAT) over two months. The hospital clarified that this was a formal contract based on market rates, and that the rental income was transparently reported for tax purposes.

The hospital further criticized, "The total transaction amount was only 11 million won, so the claim that we received significant health insurance benefits in exchange is clearly fabricated." They added, "This is a normal contract structure, similar to special prosecutors entering into short-term leases for external buildings, yet the use of terms like 'unofficial' and 'preferential treatment' is misleading public opinion."

The hospital also completely denied suspicions that, just before the presidential election, approximately 10 billion won in slush funds had been created through financial transactions between Jasaeng Korean Medicine Hospital and its affiliates, and that the police were investigating allegations of embezzlement and breach of trust.

The hospital explained that the funds in question were "legitimately spent on the development and promotion of health functional food products, with all details transparently reflected in accounting records."

They emphasized, "No hospital official or accounting staff has ever been investigated in relation to this matter," and reiterated, "There was no creation of slush funds, nor did any non-transparent transactions take place."
