Theme: "Palbok Palgyeong (Eight Blessings, Eight Scenes)"
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will host the "2025 Future Culture Festival Palbok" for three days from October 17 to 19 at the Palbok Art Factory complex.
According to the city on September 30, this year’s festival is themed "Palbok Palgyeong (Eight Blessings, Eight Scenes)" and will showcase eight visions of future culture that blend traditional culture, cutting-edge technology, and citizen creativity.
In particular, some of the festival’s exhibition content will open early on October 1 and remain available to the public until October 19, the last day of the main event.
The exhibition content, which marks the beginning of the festival, will transform the entire Palbok Art Factory into a laboratory for future culture. Specifically, visitors can experience: ▲"Digital Heritage," a competition project merging art and technology ▲"Obangsaek, the Language of Emotion," a showcase of achievements by students from the Future Culture Content Academy ▲"Jeontongyuhui," a media art piece based on traditional elements ▲"Islands Captured by Immersive Media," an exhibition of works by students from Jeonju University’s Immersive Media Innovation Convergence College ▲and the youth creative project "MansaOK" media exhibition, among others.
The main event, held over three days, will feature a variety of performance programs and content such as the Jeonju Art Nanjang, transforming the Palbok-dong area into a true festival space where art and technology, tradition and the future intersect. Among these, the "Jeonju Art Nanjang" will be organized under the slogan "Jump! Jeonju, Resonate! Nanjang," creating a festival venue where artists and citizens come together.
At the opening ceremony of the Future Culture Festival on October 17, Jeonju artists will present an opening performance fusing tradition and the future. Over the following two days, October 18 and 19, a total of 31 performance teams will deliver a variety of street performances, and a new public art project will be introduced, allowing citizens to participate and enjoy the experience firsthand. In addition, a rich program of side events will include an art auction, audience participation events, and a food and art flea market, adding to the festival’s enjoyment.
The city expects that through the Future Culture Festival Palbok, Jeonju will be able to visually present its vision as a future-oriented cultural city, combining its traditional assets, advanced technology, and citizen-driven creativity.
Furthermore, the festival aims to offer participating citizens more than just an experience or a spectacle, providing opportunities to explore new cultural possibilities by crossing the boundaries between art and technology. In particular, this year, the participation of citizens and young creators is reflected throughout the exhibitions, marking a new step forward in Jeonju’s cultural ambitions."
