CDSCH: "Restoring Precision Air Conditioning Today, Network Equipment Recovery Planned for Tomorrow"

CDSCH Holds Emergency Meeting on National Information Resources Fire on September 27
"Essential Systems Must Be Restored First"

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH), addressing the fire at the National Information Resources Service's administrative information system, announced on September 27, "We plan to restore the precision air conditioning and humidity control system today, and the network equipment by tomorrow."

Yoon Hojoong, head of the CDSCH and Minister of the Interior and Safety, held a meeting at 8 p.m. that evening, stating, "We must prioritize the normalization of essential systems that directly impact public safety, property, and economic activities."

Yoon explained, "First, we are removing approximately 250 out of the 384 batteries that were completely burned at the Daejeon Center, and we are doing our utmost to restore the precision air conditioning and humidity control system by today and the network equipment by tomorrow. If these tasks are successfully completed, we will be able to gradually restart the 551 systems that were suspended to ensure the safe preservation of the information system."

The restoration will begin with the reactivation of systems that were not affected by the fire. Systems that impact public safety, property, and economic activities will be given top priority for reactivation, and the process will proceed according to a graded system based on the importance of each system.

He added, "For the 96 systems that suffered direct fire damage in Data Center Room 7-1, we are considering transferring them to a public-private cooperative cloud service within the Daegu Center. We determined that reinstalling in a new environment would be more advantageous for recovery than attempting restoration in the completely destroyed environment."

Previously, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety had announced that 70 systems were directly affected by the fire-12 classified as Grade 1 and 58 as Grade 2-but after a detailed inspection, the number increased to 96.

Yoon expressed regret that the work undertaken to reduce battery risk, which had been identified in advance, led to the accident. He urged everyone to make every effort to minimize the negative impact on public safety, property protection, and economic activities.
