Public Notice Issued to Citizens via Private Platform
Public Notice to the Nation Regarding the Fire at the National Information Resources Service - Yonhap News
With the national computer network paralyzed due to the fire at the National Information Resources Service, the private platform Naver has stepped in to issue a public notice to the nation.
As major services, including government internet sites, were simultaneously suspended, causing significant inconvenience to the public, Naver is now serving as an alternative communication channel.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on September 27 that "many administrative services are currently restricted," and provided public guidelines for citizens through a notice posted on the Naver portal site.
Currently, when accessing the Naver portal site, there is a dedicated section titled "Related to the Fire at the National Information Resources Service" on the right side of the main page. By clicking this section, users can immediately access the public notice regarding the fire at the top of the page.
The public notice includes information on in-person civil service processing and a list of alternative services.
According to the notice, citizens are advised to call and confirm the availability of specific services before visiting administrative agencies, as there may be delays or restrictions even on-site.
Some services can be accessed through alternative sites, and a detailed list of these alternative sites is also provided.
A Naver representative stated, "As the leading portal service provider in Korea, we have played the role of a disaster portal by providing various information during national emergencies," adding, "Given the inconvenience caused to the public by the paralysis of the government computer network, we will actively cooperate with the government to respond to the crisis."
