On September 26, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation held the "Industrial Complex Statistics Innovation Council" at the Osong & Sejong Conference, where participants reviewed 20 years of industrial site approval statistics and discussed ways to improve statistics in response to the changing industrial environment.

About 20 representatives from related ministries and research institutes, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Statistics Korea, the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade, and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, attended the council. Participants shared the current status and future directions for improving industrial site statistics, and explored ways to expand their use through cooperation among related organizations.


Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements shared differences in statistical standards according to the Industrial Cluster Act and the Industrial Sites and Development Act, aiming to enhance mutual reliability and discuss more effective ways to utilize the data.


Korea Industrial Complex Corporation unveiled a plan to develop the "Industrial Complex Vitality Index," which will normalize and comprehensively analyze production, export, and employment data from industrial complexes. The corporation expects this index to serve as a new indicator, providing a clear overview of both the qualitative spread and scale growth trends of industrial complexes.


Meanwhile, statistics covering 1,331 industrial complexes nationwide and about 130,000 tenant companies are being used as important foundational data in various fields, including government policy, local government strategies, and corporate management planning. Since 2004, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation has published the "National Industrial Complex Status Statistics" and "Major Country Industrial Complex Industry Trends" every quarter.


Lee Sanghoon, President of Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, stated, "We will ensure that the establishment of reliable basic statistics and institutional improvements will provide practical assistance in formulating industrial policy."
