The Department of Companion Animal Industry at Honam University announced on September 26 that it had successfully concluded the "Companion Animal Expert Certification Special Lecture Series," which was held throughout the month of September.

This program was attended by all first- and second-year students of the department and consisted of four intensive sessions totaling 16 hours. As a result, every participating student obtained both the Pet Sitter and Companion Animal Manager certifications.

The special lectures featured a curriculum that organically combined theory and practice, including understanding the characteristics and management needs of companion animals, analyzing behavioral traits by breed, practicing the use of management supplies, and preparing for certification exams. Going beyond simple lectures, the program addressed the knowledge and skills required in the actual industry, thereby strengthening students’ job competencies and problem-solving abilities at the same time.

Instructor Yoon Gwangjae (Level 1 Companion Dog Instructor at the Korea Kennel Club and Pet Sitter Instructor), who participated as a lecturer, stated, "The certification process is more than just preparing for an exam; it is training to develop practical abilities in understanding and managing companion animals," adding, "We focused on equipping students with skills they can immediately apply in the field after graduation."

Department head Lee Moonyeong commented, "The fact that every student obtained certifications is a significant achievement for our department and proof of their growth," and added, "We will continue to expand our integrated education and certification programs that cover both health and industry, in order to further enhance our students’ employability."

Building on this achievement, the Department of Companion Animal Industry at Honam University plans to systematically strengthen students’ career competencies by offering a variety of educational content, including advanced clinical training in collaboration with Haemaru Secondary Animal Hospital, industry field internships, and global exchange programs.
