A Festival for All Generations
Linked with the Gijang Open Concert
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced that the 19th Chaseong Cultural Festival will be held from September 27 to 28 at the Hyundai Motor Dream Ball Park area in Gijang, hosted by the Chaseong Cultural Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Choi Sangcheol).
The Chaseong Cultural Festival has established itself as Gijang's representative cultural event, aiming to preserve traditional culture and promote unity among residents.
This year is particularly significant, marking the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the county and the 600th anniversary of the construction of Gijang Eupseong Fortress. To commemorate Gijang's growth and its leap toward becoming a future city, a variety of programs have been prepared. Ahead of the festival, Governor Jung Jongbok personally visited the venue to conduct safety inspections, ensuring thorough preparations for a safe event.
On the first day, September 27, when residents take center stage, a parade featuring the Jukseong Elementary School marching band, traditional percussion troupe, bands, and representatives from five towns will see over 1,000 residents transform the downtown area into a festive space. On the main stage, resident participation programs such as a traditional ritual, a walking event, and a community unity celebration will be held, followed by an opening performance featuring sand art, Chilgomu (seven drums), and a K-POP stage.
Additionally, the "Gijang Open Concert" will feature singers DK, Lee Boram, and Lee Jaehun, delivering a moving performance that spans generations.
On the second day, September 28, events such as a Korean writing contest, drawing competition, Gijang Residents’ Art Festival, and the youth stage "I Am MZ!" will provide a platform for local residents and youth to come together. The "2025 Gijang County Men’s and Women’s Ssireum King Selection Contest" will also take place.
The grand finale of the festival will be the residents’ singing contest, "Chaseong King of Singers," celebrating the 30th anniversary of the county's restoration. Eight teams who advanced through the preliminaries will compete in the finals, while singers Son Taejin, BMK, and Park Juhui will give special performances, creating an unforgettable moment with the audience.
At the experiential event site, where tradition and modernity coexist, visitors can enjoy traditional cultural experiences such as folk games, kite making, and rice cake pounding, alongside trendy activities like LED character crafts, an air bounce playground, robot cotton candy, and instant photo booths. The food market will offer local specialties such as Gijang green onion pancakes, along with a flea market and food trucks. Notably, the food trucks accept Munhwa Nuri Cards, enhancing convenience for visitors.
A shuttle bus will run frequently between Jwacheon Station on the Donghae Line and the festival venue, and various prizes will be offered, allowing attendees to enjoy the festival more conveniently and joyfully.
During the same period, the Saemaeul Children’s Park will also host the Gijang Art Festival and Gijang Ceramics Festival, featuring exhibitions, performances, and hands-on activities, creating a space for local artists and residents to come together in harmony.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "This 19th Chaseong Cultural Festival is a meaningful event to reflect on 30 years since the restoration of the county and to prepare for the next 100 years." He added, "I hope it becomes a festival of unity where all residents can enjoy and participate together." He further emphasized, "As this event will attract many residents and tourists, we will do our utmost to ensure safety so that everyone can enjoy the festival with peace of mind."
