On Thursday, September 25, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected to continue across the country. The Seoul metropolitan area will gradually clear up from the morning, while the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions will see the rain stop in the afternoon, and most of the rain in the Gyeongsang region and Jeju Island will taper off at night.
The expected rainfall through September 25 is approximately 5 to 20 millimeters in Seoul, Incheon, and northern Gyeonggi Province; 10 to 40 millimeters in southern Gyeonggi Province and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province; and 20 to 60 millimeters in the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions (with more than 80 millimeters possible along the southern west coast of South Chungcheong Province). Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo are forecast to receive 10 to 60 millimeters, while Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province are expected to get 5 to 40 millimeters, and Jeju Island is also expected to see 5 to 40 millimeters of rain. In the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions, rainfall may reach around 20 millimeters per hour until the morning, so extra caution is advised to prevent safety accidents.
The morning low temperatures are forecast to range from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs between 24 and 30 degrees. For the time being, temperatures will remain similar to or slightly higher than the seasonal averages (morning lows of 11 to 19 degrees, highs of 23 to 26 degrees), but the morning temperature on September 25 will be higher than usual.
Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at 'good' to 'moderate' levels nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and precipitation. However, from the afternoon, 'moderate' levels of foreign fine dust will flow in from the northwest, causing concentrations to gradually rise in the central western regions.
Waves in the sea are expected to reach 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the coastal waters of the East and South Seas, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea. In the offshore areas (within about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 1.0 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea.
