Toss Bank announced on the 24th that it held the 'UN Global Compact (UNGC) Membership Certificate Presentation Ceremony' at its headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The event was organized to commemorate Toss Bank's official membership in the UNGC and to publicly declare its commitment to practicing ESG management in line with global standards.
The ceremony was attended by Yeoncheol Yoo, Secretary General of the UNGC Korea Association, key staff members, and other major UNGC officials, who presented the membership certificate to Toss Bank. From Toss Bank, CEO Eunmi Lee and other senior executives were present.
Earlier in September, Toss Bank completed its membership in the UNGC, pledging to comply with and implement the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, which are jointly practiced by global companies.
Since its launch, Toss Bank has continued various ESG management activities, including: ▲ financial innovation services such as 'Receive Interest Now' and 'Lower Monthly Payments' ▲ inclusive finance through support for thin filers and mid- to low-credit borrowers ▲ creation of social value through easy employment contract services and relief for financial fraud victims ▲ and fulfillment of environmental responsibility through a 100% paperless policy.
Yeoncheol Yoo, Secretary General of the UNGC Korea Association, stated, "It is very encouraging that Toss Bank, which creates social value through innovative and inclusive finance, has joined. I hope Toss Bank will continue to actively implement the ten principles of the UNGC and lead the spread of ESG management in the domestic financial sector."
With this certificate presentation ceremony as a starting point, Toss Bank plans to faithfully submit the UNGC Communication on Progress (CoP) report every year, and from next year, to publish its own sustainability report to further strengthen the transparency and accountability of its ESG management.
A Toss Bank representative said, "Today's ceremony formalized Toss Bank's promise to continue sustainable innovation in line with global standards," adding, "We will continue our efforts to strengthen ESG management so that we can grow together with our customers, society, and the environment."
