Recognized for Contributions to the Advancement of Local Autonomy
Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province has been selected as the recipient in the Basic Local Government category at the "2025 Korea Autonomous Development Awards," organized by the Korea Institute for Local Autonomy Development. The award ceremony was held on the 23rd at the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall Convention Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

This award recognizes Yeoncheon County's significant contributions to the development of local autonomy, achieved by implementing creative policies utilizing regional resources, expanding resident participation, and operating customized administration, all despite the unique circumstances of being a border area.
The "Korea Autonomous Development Awards" is hosted by the Korea Institute for Local Autonomy Development under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It honors individuals and organizations from the National Assembly, local governments, councils, public officials, and the private sector who have contributed to the advancement of local autonomy. In particular, the local government category is evaluated based on the achievements of the organization, aiming to widely promote exemplary cases that lead local autonomy and regional innovation.
Kim Deokhyun, Governor of Yeoncheon County, stated, "This award is a valuable achievement made together with the residents of Yeoncheon County," and added, "We will continue to pursue autonomous administration that enriches the lives of our residents and leads regional development."
