Gwangmyeong City to Open Public and Street Parking Lots Free of Charge During Chuseok Holiday

Comprehensive Chuseok Holiday Plan in Place... Minimizing Inconvenience from Household Waste

Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province will open public and street parking lots free of charge during the Chuseok holiday period.


On September 24, Gwangmyeong City announced that it will implement a "Comprehensive Chuseok Holiday Plan" from October 3 to October 9, lasting seven days, to ensure that citizens can spend the holiday safely and comfortably.


During this period, the city plans to deploy approximately 230 personnel across 11 response teams, including the general control team, disaster and emergency response team, traffic management team, health and medical team, and sanitation team, to establish a prompt response system.

During the Chuseok holiday, the city will operate emergency and on-call medical institutions and holiday duty pharmacies to prepare for emergencies, and will minimize inconvenience in using emergency medical facilities through an emergency medical response center. Information on medical institutions and pharmacies that provide emergency care can be found on the Gwangmyeong City website.


The Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will operate under an emergency work system and will also run an emergency water supply team. In the event of a water leak or damage, residents can report it to the Waterworks Department Leak Recovery Center.


To monitor price trends for 21 key seasonal products, the city will operate a price stabilization situation room and strengthen on-site inspections for origin labeling and price display.


For citizens' convenience, street and public parking lots will be operated free of charge. Specifically, the Cheolsan-dong commercial area’s No. 1 and No. 2 street parking lots will be open for free from October 4 to October 8, and the other six street parking lots will be open for free throughout the holiday period. The parking lot at Gwangmyeong Citizen Sports Center will be free from October 5 to October 9, and the parking lot at Gwangmyeong City Hall will be free from October 3 to October 9.


The city will also minimize inconvenience caused by household waste disposal and collection. During the holiday, household waste can be disposed of from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the next day on October 3, 4, 7, and 9.


Gwangmyeong Memorial Park will operate as usual for all seven days of the Chuseok holiday. Visitors can pay their respects daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The city will open various events and public facilities during the holiday so that citizens can enjoy their leisure time.


In particular, "2025 Festival Gwangmyeong" will be held for two days from October 3 to 4, at the Cheolsan-ro area in front of Cheolsan Station, marking the start of the holiday. The festival will feature performances by Han Youngae, Ahn Chi-hwan, Jaurim, Crying Nut, as well as a street music festival, busking, a retro play zone, and a social economy market. On the afternoon of the 3rd, the "2025 Citizen Art Festival - Parade Gwangmyeong," organized by the Gwangmyeong Cultural Foundation, will also take place.


To facilitate the festival, the eight-lane road stretching about 300 meters from the Cheolsan Station three-way intersection to the Jungang-ro four-way intersection will be completely closed from 7:00 a.m. on October 2 to 10:00 a.m. on October 5. Bus routes 3, 6616, 6638, and the Gwangmyeong 01 village bus that pass through this section will be temporarily rerouted.


The region’s leading tourist attraction, Gwangmyeong Cave, will be open as usual for all seven days of the holiday. Libraries will also be open, with Soha Library open on October 5, Haan Library on October 7, and Gwangmyeong Library on October 8.


Meanwhile, the city will operate its civil service call center as usual to provide a variety of information during the holiday period.


Mayor Seungwon Park of Gwangmyeong City stated, "We will make thorough preparations in all areas directly related to citizens' lives, including disaster safety, transportation, medical care, and sanitation, so that everyone can spend the holiday safely and comfortably."
