Samjong KPMG to Host Kazakhstan 'Alatau New Town' Development Roadshow

On September 24, Samjong KPMG announced, "On October 15, we will hold the 'Kazakhstan Alatau (Alatau City) New Town Global Roadshow' at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, together with the government of Kazakhstan and leading Kazakhstani companies, targeting Korean public institutions and companies."

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, Kazakhstan has emerged as a new global business hub. In the first half of this year, Kazakhstan's real economic growth rate was 4.9%, surpassing the average growth rate of 4.1% among CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries. The country has maintained solid growth, recording 3.2% in 2022, 5.1% in 2023, and 4.8% last year. Kazakhstan's gross domestic product (GDP) is also expected to expand from approximately 400 trillion won last year to about 560 trillion won by 2027. In particular, as a new Eurasian logistics network is being established with Kazakhstan at its center, major countries around the world are expected to focus their investments there.

This Alatau New Town Roadshow is part of a large-scale development project reflecting Kazakhstan's economic growth momentum. It is co-hosted by the government of Kazakhstan, leading Kazakhstani companies, and Samjong KPMG. The Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, as well as vice ministers from the Ministry of Industry and Construction, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Energy, will visit Korea to discuss cooperation measures related to the Alatau development with representatives from the Korean government, public institutions, and companies.

During the morning session, representatives from both countries, including Deputy Prime Minister Bozhumbayev of Kazakhstan, will deliver congratulatory remarks to declare a sustainable economic development partnership between Kazakhstan and Korea. The keynote speech will be delivered by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), an international organization chaired by former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, presenting "Hydrogen Initiatives in Kazakhstan and Globally." Subsequently, officials from both Kazakhstan and Korea will discuss cooperation measures in the advanced mobility and hydrogen energy industries.

In the afternoon session, government-to-government (G2G) international cooperation measures and urban development plans for the Alatau New Town project will be presented. Park Moonkoo, a partner at Samjong KPMG, will lead a panel discussion on "Designing Kazakhstan's Future Industries and Cooperation with Korean Companies." The event will conclude with an introduction to the "K-Park Project," aimed at Koryoin (ethnic Koreans) around the world.

Park Moonkoo, partner at Samjong KPMG, stated, "Alatau New Town is the optimal international stage to provide new business opportunities for Korean companies," and added, "Through this roadshow, we hope to establish a long-term business partnership between the two countries and lay the foundation for next year's summit." Registration for the Alatau New Town Roadshow is free on the official website and may close early on a first-come, first-served basis.
