The United States is aiming to restore its pride on home turf.
On September 26 (local time), the Ryder Cup, a prestigious golf competition where top golfers from the United States and Europe face off, will kick off at the Black Course of Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York. Although there is no prize money, national and continental honor is at stake.

The United States holds an all-time record of 27 wins, 2 draws, and 15 losses in the Ryder Cup. However, the situation has been different since the 2000s, with Europe dominating the United States by 8 wins to 3. In the most recent tournament, held in Rome, Italy in 2023, Europe secured a decisive victory with a score of 16.5 to 11.5. Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, one of Europe’s star players, stated, "Winning the Ryder Cup on the road would be the greatest achievement."
The United States has assembled a new lineup, replacing half of its 12-member team compared to the previous tournament. Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau automatically qualified by finishing in the top six in the selection points. They are joined by Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay, and Sam Burns, who were selected for the team.
The United States is counting heavily on the support of home fans. A tremendous amount of noise is expected when European players are on the course. The PGA of America distributed 3,000 tickets to golf fans in New York, the host city. The team is relying on the power of enthusiastic support. In fact, the home team’s winning percentage is very high; in the past 20 years, the only time the home team lost was when the United States was defeated in 2012.
