Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province, led by Mayor Baek Younghyeon, is set to host a series of vibrant cultural, tourism, and festival events this fall, offering a rich cultural experience for both citizens and visitors to enjoy together.

According to Pocheon City on September 23, this fall will feature a variety of events, including the Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival, Pocheon Citizen's Day, the Hantangang and Gwangneung Forest International Forum, the Pocheon Sanjeong Lake Myeongseongsan Silver Grass Festival, and Pocheon Petstar. The city expects these events to widely promote local tourism resources and culture, as well as contribute to revitalizing the local economy.


◆ Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival

From October 9 to 12, the Pocheon Hantangang World Drone Festival will take place in the Hantangang area, combining drone sports, exhibitions, and hands-on experiences.


During the event, there will be a drone soccer tournament and a drone experience zone, along with youth programs and a drone conference. The festival is expected to become a comprehensive, all-ages event where participants can directly experience the future value of the drone industry.


The highlight of this year’s festival is the World Drone Light Show, featuring more than 6,000 drones-the largest in Korea-integrated with live performances. Collaborations with renowned artists such as Beatpella House and Leenalchi Band will present a fusion of drone displays and cultural performances, providing families with a diverse and exciting spectacle. Pocheon City aims to use this festival as a springboard to become a 'drone mecca city.'

◆ 23rd Pocheon Citizen's Day

The 23rd Pocheon Citizen's Day, themed "A Greater Pocheon, Greater Happiness Created Together by Citizens, Government, and Military," will be held from October 11 to 12 at the Pocheon Sports Complex.


This event is designed as a venue for unity between citizens and military personnel. It will feature hands-on activities such as the Blueway Walking Competition and Pocheon Bibimbap Making, while the Black Eagles Air Show and military cultural performances will add excitement to the festivities.


In particular, the nighttime program, featuring a drone light show and fireworks, will create unforgettable autumn memories for people of all ages and backgrounds. Pocheon City has expanded citizen-led programs to further strengthen the concept of a "festival created together."


◆ Hantangang and Gwangneung Forest International Forum

Pocheon City will host the Hantangang and Gwangneung Forest International Forum from October 16 to 19 at the Hantangang Ecological Landscape Complex. This forum will focus on the value and preservation of UNESCO-designated sites.


The event will include academic seminars and field trips with domestic and international experts, and an inaugural vision declaration ceremony to discuss international solidarity and cooperation. Participants will share ecological and environmental values and explore sustainable development strategies utilizing UNESCO-designated sites.


This forum is expected to raise global awareness of Pocheon's ecotourism resources and enhance its status as an international city.

◆ 28th Pocheon Sanjeong Lake Myeongseongsan Silver Grass Festival

The 28th Silver Grass Festival, held from October 17 to 19 around Sanjeong Lake and Myeongseongsan, will expand its programs and offer a richer experience to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sanjeong Lake’s construction.


The highlight of the festival will be a large-scale water fireworks show on the evenings of October 17 and 18 over Sanjeong Lake. Alongside the fireworks, there will be storytelling performances about the lake’s history, floating installations (art objects), and dancer performances, all coming together to create a magnificent stage.


At night, the festival will feature a silent DJ party, nighttime art installations, and a lantern exhibition. During the day, visitors can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities, including the Silver Grass Wishing Path, calligraphy workshops, and photo zones, catering to families and young people alike.


The opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on October 17 at the Sanjeong Lake Sculpture Park, kicking off with a Silver Grass Folk Concert followed by celebratory performances.


◆ Pocheon Petstar

Pocheon Petstar, an event for pet lovers and their companions, will be held on October 25 at the Hantangang Ecological Landscape Complex.


The event will feature the Hantangang Doggy Trekking and the Pet Olympics, both designed for pet owners and their dogs. Special programs include a lecture titled "The Three Great Doggy Emperors of the Year." There will also be a pet-themed talk concert and a variety of hands-on activities for families with pets to enjoy together.

In addition, there will be side programs such as pet product exhibitions and sales, hands-on booths, and a camping festival, establishing the event as a platform for promoting pet-friendly culture. Pocheon City plans to use Petstar to strengthen its image as a pet-friendly city and attract more tourists.


Mayor Baek Younghyeon of Pocheon City stated, "This autumn will be a special season filled with a variety of festivals and events that represent Pocheon, offering enjoyment for both citizens and visitors. We hope these festivals will invigorate the local economy and help Pocheon establish itself as a city of culture and tourism."
