Uijeongbu City to Establish 1 Trillion Won Global AI Digital Culture Content Media Convergence Center

Building a Future Industry Hub with Minerva University and Maeil Business Newspaper Media Group

Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Donggeun Kim) announced on the 23rd that it will collaborate with Maeil Business Newspaper Media Group (Maeil Business Newspaper TV), Minerva University, and ICT companies to establish the Global AI Digital Culture Content Media Convergence Center (W-inno Biz Rising Labs) on the Camp Stanley site.

This project is a strategic initiative aimed at transforming Uijeongbu City into a “Future Business City” by converging advanced technology and the content industry. The core objective is to foster new digital-based industries, build a global cooperation system linked to world-class innovation infrastructure, and enhance the city’s competitiveness.

The center will be located on a portion of the soon-to-be-returned Camp Stanley site, near the Gosan-dong Rhythm City Complex Cultural Convergence District. It will be developed as a global business cluster where innovative tech companies in future industries such as AI digital, cultural content (including entertainment), blockchain, digital assets, and digital video media are concentrated. The total project cost is expected to exceed 1 trillion won.

In particular, the center is set to serve as a global innovation hub for Minerva University, a world-renowned innovative university, and is expected to actively operate industry-academia-research collaboration programs. This is a follow-up to the agreement signed between the city and the university headquarters in San Francisco, United States, in April.

Additionally, the city is positively considering, together with Maeil Business Newspaper Media Group and Minerva University, the establishment and operation of an international school within the Free Economic Zone to attract global companies.

Once the Global AI Digital Culture Content Media Convergence Center is established, Uijeongbu City is expected to reach a turning point, emerging as a “Future Business City” where over 100,000 people are active in the digital culture content media sector.

In particular, with K-cultural content such as “K-Pop Demon Hunters” gaining global attention, there is growing interest in the center’s role and influence on an international scale.

The city has agreed to cooperate with Maeil Business Newspaper Media Group and Minerva University to swiftly advance the project as soon as a portion of the Camp Stanley site is returned by the Ministry of National Defense.

Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, “Uijeongbu City is ready to become the center of a global innovation ecosystem,” adding, “Through this collaborative system, we will lead the way in digital culture content and future industries, and provide a stage where young people can pursue their dreams.”
