Ruling Party: "Only Four Bills Including the Government Organization Act Will Be Addressed"
The People Power Party has decided to respond to all bills at the upcoming plenary session on September 25 with a filibuster (unlimited debate).
On September 23, Song Eonseok, floor leader of the People Power Party, announced through a party notice, "The Democratic Party of Korea is insisting on forcibly passing bills at the plenary session on the 25th, even though the contentious issues have not been resolved and the bills are being rushed through."

To prepare for this, he instructed party lawmakers to "adjust your schedules in advance to be ready for unlimited debate at the plenary session," and added, "From this moment on, all overseas activities and schedules are strictly prohibited."
At a press conference marking 100 days since taking office, held at the National Assembly on the same day, Song stated, "As the opposition, even when we raise our voices, we are not being heard, and the dominant ruling party refuses to listen. Under these circumstances, many within the party believe that our only remaining option is to filibuster every bill."
In response, the Democratic Party of Korea has devised a strategy to submit only four key bills to the plenary session on September 25: the Government Organization Act, the Act on the Establishment of the Broadcasting Media Communications Committee, the National Assembly Act, and the Rules on the Number of Standing Committees of the National Assembly. Their intention is to address contentious bills that are difficult to reach bipartisan agreement on within this month, and to postpone consideration of bills with relatively minor disagreements.
