Ministry of the Interior and Safety Announces "Open Call for Selection of Private Companies for Service Provision"
35 Services Across 11 Sectors Including Daily Life, Transportation, and Real Estate
The government has decided to open up 35 frequently used public services to private companies. This includes services such as reissuing resident registration cards and driver's licenses, as part of efforts to enhance public convenience.
On September 23, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will conduct a public call for the selection of private companies to participate in the "2025 Second Half Open Service Private Company Selection" until October 15.
The main services scheduled for opening cover 35 types across 11 sectors with high public usage and significant impact, including daily life, transportation, real estate, and certificates. These include reissuing resident registration cards and driver's licenses, mobile passport information certification services, four types of National Pension services (such as checking subscription records and applying for voluntary enrollment), and online issuance of school admission notices.
Applications can be submitted through "Document 24," and the application forms and required documents are available on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's website.
Private companies selected as candidate organizations for service opening will negotiate linkage requirements with the relevant agencies, then proceed with terms of use agreements and program development (API). Starting early next year, they are expected to sequentially provide public services to citizens through private apps and websites. With this service opening, the delivery system for public services utilizing private resources is expected to become even more diversified. In particular, by combining public services with private company offerings, the completeness of customized services tailored to citizens' needs is expected to increase.
Lee Yongseok, Director of the Digital Government Innovation Office, stated, "By providing public services through private apps that citizens frequently use, we expect to improve convenience and efficiency, as well as contribute to economic revitalization. Since these are services closely related to daily life and are expected to have a significant impact when linked with private apps or websites, we ask for the interest and participation of many companies."
