According to the county on September 23, this initiative was established to encourage foreign residents to upgrade to long-term stay visas, in line with the Ministry of Justice and North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province's local-based visa conversion policies.

The program targets foreigners who, after January 1, 2025, change their residency status to either Skilled Worker (E-7-4) or Regional Talent Visa (F-2-R), and have resided in Wanju County for more than one month. Selected recipients will receive a one-time visa upgrade grant of 300,000 won per person.

The grant will be awarded to a total of 40 individuals, and applications will be accepted until December 19. Applications must be submitted in person by the applicant or a representative, either at the Foreign Policy Team of the County Population Policy Division or at the Wanju Foreign Resident Support Center.

County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "Through local-based visa upgrades, we aim to support the stable settlement of foreign residents and lay the foundation for mutual prosperity with the local community," adding, "We hope for active interest and participation from foreign residents in the county."
