Sunchang County to Implement Seizure Measures Against Local Tax Delinquents

Recipients of Agricultural and Forestry Direct Payments

Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province announced on September 23 that, in line with the intensive collection period for local tax arrears in the fourth quarter of 2025, it will implement seizure measures against recipients of agricultural and forestry direct payments who are in arrears on local taxes.

To this end, the county will first secure a list of recipients of agricultural and forestry direct payments from relevant departments, check for any outstanding local taxes, and send seizure pre-notification letters by mail to those in arrears to encourage payment before the direct payments are distributed.

For recipients who do not pay their local tax arrears despite the seizure pre-notification, the county will collect the outstanding amounts by placing a seizure order and executing collection on the direct payment accounts during the payment period from next month through November. For inquiries regarding local tax payments and arrears, residents can contact the county tax collection team for consultation.

A county official stated, "Going forward, we will make it a mandatory procedure to check for local tax arrears when implementing various subsidy and support programs in order to minimize outstanding amounts," and added, "Since those with local tax arrears may be excluded from applying for or being selected for future subsidy programs, we strongly urge prompt voluntary payment."
