A Youth-Led Festival
Abundant Performances, Experiences, and Concerts
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Moonheun) announced on September 23 that the "9th Korea Youth Day" event will be held on September 27 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. along the main street of Daehangno (from Exit 1 of Hyehwa Station to the entrance of Seoul National University Hospital).
This event is co-hosted by Jongno-gu and the Youth and Future Association, and organized by the K-Culture Education Central Association. Notably, it will be held as a "youth-led festival," with young people directly participating in the planning and overall management. Young artists and university students from across the country have prepared performances and hands-on programs, so the Daehangno area is expected to be filled with the energy of youth and art throughout the day.
The opening will feature a large-scale flash mob, the "Youth Dance Challenge," which carries an eco-friendly message. This will be followed by the "5th Cheerleading Championship," where university cheerleading teams from all over the country will deliver dynamic performances. The "Creator Festival" will provide an opportunity for popular creators and fans to interact, while the "Color Bomb" event, where participants enjoy throwing colorful powder, is also scheduled to energize the venue.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the same day, the "Me+ Youth Festival Concert" will be held on a special stage in front of Exit 1 of Hyehwa Station. Many talented artists will perform, heightening the festive atmosphere to its peak.
In addition, youth startup booths and pop-up stores will be operated, allowing citizens and tourists not only to enjoy the performances but also to participate in a variety of experiences. On the day of the event, vehicle traffic will be completely restricted from 5 p.m. to midnight along the approximately 350-meter section from Exit 1 of Hyehwa Station to the entrance of Seoul National University Hospital.
Jeong Moonheun, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, "Daehangno has long been the center of Korea's performing arts culture, symbolizing youth and art. I hope this event will serve as a stage for young people to fully express their talents and passion, and that it will develop into a new model of urban culture where the local economy and performing arts thrive together."
