Taebaek City and Gangneung Yeongdong College Collaborate to Offer Barista Career Experience Program for Youth

Taebaek City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Sangho Lee) announced on the 23rd that it is operating the '2025 Dream Bean Barista Career Experience Education' program for local youth in collaboration with Gangneung Yeongdong College.

The program, which began on the 15th with the participation of 16 local youth, is a 10-week course held every Monday on the first floor of the Sangjang Youth Culture Center until November 22.

The curriculum combines theory and practice, including hand-drip coffee experiences, espresso extraction practice, learning latte art, and field trips to Gangneung City, enabling youth to deepen their understanding of coffee and acquire practical skills.

This program is part of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Regional Innovation-Led Support System (RISE) project, a collaboration between Taebaek City and Gangneung Yeongdong College. The city plans to continue fostering local talent through customized career education for local youth.

Meanwhile, Taebaek City remodeled the first floor of the Sangjang Youth Culture Center, the program venue, into a creative space with a youth program room and a cafe, utilizing the Education Development Special Zone project budget by July. This initiative is expected to provide a space where youth can stay, learn, and realize their dreams, playing a significant role in laying the foundation for nurturing future talent.

An official from Taebaek City said, "It is very meaningful that we have created an educational environment where youth can realize their dreams by utilizing the Education Development Special Zone budget, and that we are able to operate programs in connection with the Gangwon RISE project. We will continue to do our best to bring about educational changes that students and parents can truly experience."
